On Feb.3rd, setsubun, when the winter and spring are devided according to our old calendar, we are to eat maki-sushi.

It was customary in kansai district until ten or so years ago, but it’s now known in Tokyo too, thanks to the commercial effort of convenience stores!

They sell lots of rolled sushi on this day.

Yeah so I found this toy in Target and my son, who loves animals, had to have it. It’s marketed for girls but dude, who wouldn’t like a kitten eating sushi? It came with some chop sticks but the tot lost those within an hour. 


This thing stays next to me most of the day and when Xander plays with it I make sure to search the house for it an hour or two later. 


I love it!
