Champorado
Chocolate Porridge

Tsampurado/Champorado is a sweet chocolate rice porridge made by boiling sticky, glutinous rice with cocoa powder, giving it a distinctly brown color, and adding milk or sugar or condensed milk to make it sweeter. It is served usually at breakfast and sometimes together with salty dried fish locally known as tuyo. It is said the Filipino champorado was inspired by the Mexican chocolate drink champurrado and over the years, Filipinos managed to make it their own by adding rice.
